Yoga 4 The World was born out of Steven J. Brice’s deepest personal crisis. In January 2015, while navigating a dark and troubled place mentally and spiritually, a period St. John of the Cross would describe as the Dark Night of the Soul, Steven felt a desperate, driving need to do something different. He turned to the practices of yoga and meditation, starting with Yoga with Adriene on YouTube and eventually finding a home within the Sync Yoga and Wellness family in Dallas, TX. On the mat, Steven found more than just movement; he found a vehicle that led him back into the light, offering him the peace, healing, and self-love he had long been searching for. This personal transformation was supported by a deep academic and spiritual foundation, as Steven holds a Bachelor’s in Religious Studies, a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling, and a Master of Divinity in Missional Theology.
As Steven experienced this profound healing, he was struck by a powerful conviction that these practices should not be a luxury reserved for the few but a right accessible to everyone. To ensure he could serve all people safely and effectively, he became a certified yoga teacher in many forms, including trauma-informed yoga and specialized yoga for Parkinson’s disease. This sense of purpose moved him to bridge the gap between wellness and the communities often left behind, leading to the official launch of the Philadelphia chapter of Yoga 4 The World on April 23, 2019. Also known as Yoga 4 Philly, or Y4P, this chapter became dedicated to creating a safer, more supportive society by ensuring that the most vulnerable populations are never excluded from the path to wellness.
Today, Yoga 4 The World is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that honors the philosophy of serving the whole person from the cradle to the grave. Our reach is expansive and inclusive, providing prenatal yoga for expecting mothers and specialized programs for seniors. We bring healing to individuals impacted by poverty, drug abuse, and sex trafficking, while offering trauma-informed care in hospitals for those living with chronic illness. Our work transcends traditional boundaries, bringing mindfulness into religious and corporate settings alike to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the tools of well-being.
Steven’s vision continues to grow beyond Philadelphia, expanding to the West Coast through Yoga 4 The Bay to create a more supportive world for everyone. Despite the demands of leading a national organization, Steven’s love for teaching remains at the heart of his work. He continues to support the mission directly from the yoga mat, remaining a constant presence for those seeking the same light and healing that once transformed his own life. Everything the organization achieves stems from the belief that when yoga and meditation are equitable, every community has the opportunity to thrive.
